Holy Heart Theatre, July 11-12, 2019, 8:00 p.m.
Set your calendar for July 11-12, 2019 for an extraordinary Spirit of Newfoundland Productions musical tribute to one of the most successful sister/brother singing duos of all time. The Carpenters rose to the top of the charts in 1970 with songs like Close to You and We’ve Only Just Begun. For more than a decade they were music royalty, even beating out the Beatles and Simon and Garfunkel at the Grammys. It is said that Karen Carpenter who preferred to stay behind a set of drums, could sing the phone book. At a time when Rock & Roll owned the airwaves, their soft pop sound rested on the ears of the masses like velvet. Some of their best known songs also include The Top of the World, Ticket to Ride, Rainy Days and Mondays, Please Mister Postman. There’s a Kind of Hush, Solitaire, This Masquerade, Superstar, For all We Know and of course the title of our show, It’s Yesterday Once More.
Leading the cast is vocalist Natalie Noseworthy who has been performing with Spirit of Newfoundland for almost 20 years. Making her debut with Spirit of Newfoundland is Miranda MacDonald. The show also features John Williams, Evan Smith and company co-owner and Artistic Director Peter Halley.
Tickets go on sale today at 12:00 Noon. The musical tribute show set for Holy Heart Theatre July 11-12, 2019. It’s Yesterday Once More takes us back to a time when music was pure and rich. Call 579-3023 for more information and buy tickets at www.holyhearttheatre.com or by calling the box office at 579-4424.
Spirit of Newfoundland also has a full slate of successful musical comedies now in rotation on the schedule at it’s own Masonic Theatre, including Stand By Your Nan, Abba Tribute, The Mamas and Papas Musical Tribute, Newfoundland Idol, Where Once They Stood, Skeets Snobs and Peppermint Nobs, and a newly launched Music, Art, Food Gospel show. The company is 22 years old and holds the title of the Legend Award of the City of St. John’s.
